Soybean Meal

Soybeans (Glycine max) are a high protein legume and are the most commonly used protein supplement in dairy diets throughout the world. Soybean meal is palatable, nutrient dense, high in digestibility, and a relatively consistent source of protein. It has an excellent amino acid profile and is a concentrated source of protein and energy.

Feeding recommendations

There is no maximum for the use of soybean meal in dairy rations, and it can be fed to meet protein requirements. Normal feeding rates will be around 0.5-2kg per head per day. Soybean meal can be fed mixed with silage in the paddock or on the feed pad. It can also be fed via the grain feeding system in the dairy shed. Consult your nutritionist or farm consultant to work out the most optimal inclusion level for your particular situation.


Soya oil cake

Soya oil cake is a prime quality, plant raw material for production of combined fodders and is a protein base of the fodders.
Soya oil cake is produced from seeds of a very nutritive culture of soy, during the process of oil production. During processing, oil is obtained only from “oily” part of seeds, while edible “leaves” of seeds remain in wastes. These leaves are soya oil cake, which besides protein and amino acids, contains a lot of different mineral substances: Ca, P, Fe, Mn, Zn, etc.

It is recommended to include up to 35 % of soya oil cake to main feed for all types of agricultural animals, birds, and fishes. Soy-bean protein, by its biological properties, is close to proteins of animal origin and due to this, is well digested by animals.

Soya oil cake contains a significant amount of protein and energy that enables preparation of a feed with high content of proteins and energy.
